Single source. What happened: Raebareli police plan to train more than 10,000 e-rickshaw drivers, along with auto drivers, at the Police Lines during Traffic Month, which runs from 1 to 30 November 2026. Hindustan reports that Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar has directed the traffic police to prepare. This report rests on one source, the Hindustan Raebareli edition of 31 October 2026. We could not find a second independent report.

According to Hindustan, the police are first giving serial numbers to autos and e-rickshaws running in the city and collecting each driver’s details. Drivers will then be called to the Police Lines in batches. Training will cover road signs, no parking and one-way markings, picking up and dropping passengers only at fixed points, not parking on the road, and keeping to speed limits. Drivers from Lalganj, Maharajganj, Unchahar, Bachhrawan and other big towns will also be included. The SP told the paper that drivers who break rules after training will face action under traffic rules.

Why it matters: E-rickshaws carry a large share of daily trips in Raebareli city, from the railway station and bus stand to the markets and the district hospital. Most drivers are daily earners who rent or repay loans on their vehicles, so a day at the Police Lines is a day without income. Commuters, shopkeepers and pedestrians in crowded markets and crossings deal with the jams that the police want to reduce.

Honest opinion: Training before fines is a fair order of steps, and numbering vehicles will help police and passengers trace a rickshaw after a complaint or a lost item. The gap is space. The report does not mention any new e-rickshaw stands or fixed pick-up points, and without them drivers will keep stopping at crossings because that is where passengers wait. If batches are held at busy hours, drivers will lose earnings. Expect training in the first half of November and a challan drive in the second half. Confidence: medium.

What you should do: If you drive an auto or e-rickshaw, keep your licence, registration, insurance and fitness papers ready, since police are collecting driver details. Ask the traffic police office about your batch date so you can plan your day. Passengers can help by boarding and getting off only at the roadside, not in the middle of a crossing.
