Harchandpur CHC patients told to photograph X-ray screens

A doctor checking an X-ray film

What happened: Single source. This report rests on one newspaper account, and we could not find a second independent report at the time of filing. Patients at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Harchandpur say they have not been given X-ray films for about 15 days, Dainik Bhaskar reported on Monday, 2 November 2026. After the X-ray, staff ask them to take a photo of the computer screen on their mobile phone and show it to the doctor. Parents of two children who came for X-rays told the paper they got no film. The X-ray technician said the centre has film, but a colour and printer problem is stopping prints.

Why it matters: The Harchandpur CHC serves a large rural area, and many patients come from villages with no other X-ray facility nearby. A phone photo of a screen can be blurred or cut off, and it is hard to share with a specialist. Patients referred to the district hospital or to a private doctor often need the film or a printed report. In injury cases, families may also need a proper record for police or insurance papers. CHC Superintendent Brijesh Kumar Singh said reports are being given on X-ray film at the centre. He said he will look into why patients are not getting film. If any fault or technical problem is found, it will be fixed, he said.

Honest opinion: From what the technician says, this looks like a machine or printer fault, not a lack of film. That kind of problem is usually quick to fix once the right part or engineer arrives. The patients who lose most are poor families and the elderly, who may have to pay again for an X-ray at a private centre. Coverage does not say how many patients a day use the X-ray unit or when the printer was last serviced. If the superintendent’s check finds a simple fault, prints should resume within a week. Confidence: medium.

What you should do: If you get an X-ray at the Harchandpur CHC, ask the staff for a printed film or at least a signed written report. If they cannot give one, ask the CHC superintendent’s office to note it. You can also complain on the Chief Minister’s helpline 1076 or on the IGRS portal, jansunwai.up.gov.in. Keep your OPD slip and X-ray receipt safe, as you may need them for a repeat test.
