What happened: Police found the body of a man inside a house in Umrapur village, in the Bachhrawan police station area of Raebareli, on Sunday, 1 November 2026. Hindustan reports that the man was about 35 years old and came from another village. Neighbours heard screams from the house on Sunday. Hindustan puts the time at about 3 pm, while Amar Ujala says it was in the evening. The neighbours called the police helpline 112. Police found the man with serious head injuries. Amar Ujala reports more than 10 wounds on his body. Hindustan says there were more than half a dozen. Food lay scattered near the body. Both papers say the man had come to the house on a motorcycle on an earlier visit and came back on Sunday. Police have detained one person for questioning.
Why it matters: Circle Officer Pradeep Kumar told Amar Ujala that the case looks like murder at first sight. Police have sent the body for post-mortem, and the report should confirm the cause of death. The man has not yet been identified, so his family may not yet know what has happened. Police say efforts are on to find out who he is. A killing inside a home in a small village has left residents shaken. The detained person has not been charged, and police have not named any accused. In line with our policy, we are not naming the dead man, the house owner or anyone questioned. Reports differ on the time of the incident and the number of wounds. We will update this story when police give an official account.
What you should do: If you know a man of about 35 who left home on a motorcycle and has not returned since Sunday, contact Bachhrawan police station or dial 112 at once. Details such as his clothes, the bike or the route he took can help police identify him faster. Residents who heard or saw anything near the house on Sunday should tell the police directly. Please do not spread names, photos or rumours on social media. Wrong claims can hurt innocent people and harm the investigation. Wait for the post-mortem report and the police statement before drawing conclusions. Keep the 112 number saved on every phone at home, and be careful when strangers visit.
