What happened: Raebareli will get a Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Skill Training and Employment Zone on 10 to 25 acres of land within 15 to 20 km of the district headquarters. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Rs 1,725 crore state scheme at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow on Saturday, 31 October 2026, the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, Hindustan Times reports. The Raebareli details come from the district’s announcement, carried by Hindustan and News Nation Bharat.
The launch was shown live at government ITIs and Skill Development Mission training centres in the district. At the ITI in Gora Bazar, staff and trainees paid tribute at Sardar Patel’s statue. District Industries Centre Deputy Commissioner Paramhans Maurya and Skill Development Mission district manager Rajeev Kumar Singh were present. At the Lucknow event, the Chief Minister launched the scheme portal and laid foundation stones for first phase centres in five districts: Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Raebareli is not in that first list.
Why it matters: Young people in Raebareli who finish ITI, polytechnic or college courses often leave for Lucknow, Delhi or the Gulf to find work. MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary said the state’s 75 districts have been grouped into nine employment zones on a hub and spoke model. He said the centres will train youth in artificial intelligence, robotics, data science and Indian and foreign languages, Hindustan Times reports. A centre close to the city could let students from Gora Bazar, Lalganj and Unchahar train without moving away.
Honest opinion: The plan is clear on intent, but for Raebareli it is still at the first step. The sources do not name a site, a budget for the district or a start date, and the land has to be found within a fixed radius of the city. Similar district level projects have often taken a year or more just to secure land. Watch for the district administration to identify a plot in the coming months; building is unlikely to start before the first phase districts show results. Confidence: low on the timeline.
