What happened: Single source. This report rests on one newspaper account, and we could not find a second independent report at the time of filing. Villagers and students in the Shivgarh area held a protest on Monday, 2 November 2026, over the poor state of the road from Ranikheda to Sehgon Tamanpur, Dainik Bhaskar reported. They say the road has turned into a line of potholes. Part of the road was built by the Public Works Department (PWD) and part by the Mandi Samiti. Protesters said neither body has taken care of it. On Monday, an elderly woman was hurt when a motorcycle went out of control in a pothole.
Why it matters: The road links dozens of villages and several schools. People from Ranikheda, Bahadurnagar, Dundgarh, Kundauli, Jahangirabad, Bankagarh, Pasi Paliya, Tamanpur and Sehgon use it every day. Students on bicycles, farmers with produce and families going to markets and health centres all depend on it. Villagers say small accidents happen often. PWD Junior Engineer Sameer Srivastava said potholes will be filled with patch repair this week. Across the district, about 150 roads were still in poor shape at the start of this week, and the state has set 10 November as the deadline for repairs, as we reported earlier.
Honest opinion: The split ownership is the main issue on this road. When two bodies build parts of one road, repairs often wait while each sees the other as responsible. The PWD promise covers patch work, which helps for a few months but does not fix drainage, the usual cause of repeat damage. Villages on the edge of blocks like these get less attention than main roads near towns. If the patch work starts this week, it will show whether the 10 November deadline reaches rural link roads too. Confidence: medium.
What you should do: If you use this road, ride slowly, especially after dark, and keep children on bicycles to the side. Note the worst potholes and their location, and send photos with a written complaint to the PWD office or the Shivgarh block office. You can also file a complaint on the IGRS portal, jansunwai.up.gov.in, or call the Chief Minister’s helpline 1076, and keep the complaint number to follow up after 10 November.
